ITERATIONS is committed to the future of artistic collaboration in digitally networked contexts. Multidisciplinary artists and practitioners are brought together to create speculative works that feed the imagination of possible artistic collaboration modes.

Through a series of hands-on residencies and discursive exhibitions, ITERATIONS provided situations where artists collectively experiment with new ways of ‘art working,’ making space for collectivity, collaboration, and co-creation. The project was structured around the conceptual mathematical model of ‘iteration’. Inspired by recursive collaboration forms, as they exist in open source software development, the project ITERATIONS, applied repetition, and circularity to artistic methodologies. The output from one activity is used as the input to the next, respecting above all, the digital arts increased momentum for open code, sharing, and networked creation. ITERATIONS further develop this exciting prospect by involving open source methodologies from the digital realm into analog art-practices, artistic knowledge exchange, and exhibition-making. Fundamental to the project was the hand-over — a self[1]directed action to pass over some of the previous iteration knowledge.

Position in Project: Artistic Research, continuous evaluation/observation, co-coordination for the Austrian partner.
